Glossary of Definitions

Connotation - an implied meaning behind the explicit meaning you can take from what you see: what a person can read into the image
Denotation - what we can see in the image; the explicit meaning
Studium - The broad sense of what the image is. The aesthetic style of the image, how it was taken and what makes it attractive
Punctum - A detail that is off from what you would naturally expect from the image; what you are drawn to in the image and what makes the image.
